Here’s the Scoop

Anker has established itself as one of, if not the, household names when it comes to all things charging. However, their latest invention, while not a wholly brand-new original idea, is a game changer. Sick and tired of having to wait until you’re home to upload all your photos from your camera to your laptop and then to your phone? Stick around—this article might be the one for you. We’ll take a look at what exactly the product does, its features and specifications, pros and cons, and how it compares to other alternatives on the market.

What is it?

It’s a puck-shaped SD and microSD card reader that can be used with laptops, tablets, and smartphones. Yes, I know this isn’t revolutionary; however, the MagGo technology already employed by Anker in many of their portable chargers makes this, in my opinion, the best option out there in terms of ease of use. Take as many photos as you like with your digital camera, and within minutes, see them transferred to your selected device no matter where you are.

This is a perfect tool for anyone who creates content for a living and prefers the use of their digital camera over their phone, allowing them to post instantly on the spot. Gone are the days of rushing home after an event to transfer photos to your phone before uploading them.

Features & Specifications

  • Connect with your iPhone 15 or 16, and the MagGo USB-C Adapter can unlock ProRes 4K recording at 60fps if the memory card supports at least 220MB/s write speeds and 256GB capacity.

  • The USB-C adapter enables simultaneous data syncing and charging at a 42.5W max output when connected to a power source, making it ideal for multitasking professionals.

  • Available in white, black, or teal.

  • Promised transfer speeds of up to 312MB/s.

Pro’s & Cons

Pros

  • Easy to use

  • Easy to transport & store

  • Quick & easy transfer of content

  • Relatively cheap

Cons

  • Limited to use with Iphone 15/16 or USB-C enabled devices

  • It supports only SD and microSD (TF) cards, so users needing other card formats like CompactFlash or XQD may need additional adapters.

  • The built-in cable could be too short for some setups, potentially making it less convenient for desktop use or in-car scenarios.

Comparison

There are a huge amount of alternatives out there, if like myself you haven’t splashed out yet on an Iphone 15 or 16 and are still rocking an older model the below options will be perfect for what you need. All are available to buy on amazon, making them easy and accessible to purchase.

  1. USB C Lightning to SD Micro SD Card Reader from Kefiany - Has both USB - C & lighting adapter, great price at $11.99, however missing Mag Safe capabilities. Purchase here

  2. Apple Lightning to SD & TF Card Dual Slot Reader from Wahbite - Simple lighting only adapter great if you have no need for USB-C, reasonable $12.99, again missing Mag Safe. Purchase here

  3. USB C SD Card Reader for Lighting and Type C USB Port, Portable Micro SD Card Reader Adapter for USB TF SD Port for iPad/MacBook Pro/Air/Laptop/Galaxy - This has a whole lot to offer, with lighting, USB & USB-C adapters aswell as space for SD, MicroSD and two USB Ports on the other side. Probably don’t need that much connection in this day and age but if you are working with old phone/laptop models might be very handy. Purchase here
